The Benefits of Hiring a PA or a VA

The Benefits of Hiring a PA or a VA

The Benefits of Hiring a PA or VA

There are many benefits to hiring a personal assistant (PA) or a Virtual Assistant (VA). Both essentially do the same things, especially when authors come to mind. I happen to be both, an author and a VA. To me, a personal assistant is someone who helps out off of the computer. As much as I would love to do that, I have a full-time job, so I am stuck being a virtual assistant for now. In this article, I will tell you the top five benefits of hiring a PA or VA (even if you aren’t an author, you may still benefit from such services.

Before I continue, please note that while I primarily work with authors, I am happy to work with other small business owners. I have an associates degree in Office Technology and over 15 years of office assistant experience. For information on my services, you can visit the Quillity Author Services website, www.quillityauthorservices.com

Benefit #1 Time Management

One of the many things that a PA or VA often does, is time management. They help their clients manage their calendars and perform tasks to increase their time.

Benefit #2 Encouragement

One of the most important roles of a PA/VA is to provide support and encouragement to their clients. This is especially important to those of us who work with authors. As an author myself, I often feel discouraged when I hit writer’s block, or am going through a tough spot in life. That is why I started Quillity Author Services.

Benefit #3 More time to Write

Having a VA or PA is supposed to give you, the author more time to write. Or, if you are a small business owner, more time to spend with your family. The more tasks the assistant has to do, the more time you should have for yourself!

Benefit #4 You don’t have to deal with promotion on your own!

One of the most common tasks us assistants do for our clients is social media promotion. I don’t know about you, but when I published my first book, I didn’t know a darn thing about promoting. I relied on my friends and family. While they purchased my book, it only got me so far. Twitter was just becoming a thing, and I barely understood Facebook. I know I’m not alone, so I am always happy to help fellow authors get the word out there.

Benefit #5 We will fanboy/fangirl over you!

We are there to support you in all areas of your business. Yes, believe it or not, being an author is a business. It is our job to love your work and you. When pair with the right assistant, you might just have yourself a new fan. When this happens, it is amazing the results you will see from the marketing. Plus, who doesn’t love a fan?

There you have it, folks, those are some benefits that I see to having an assistant. Can you think of some benefits that I may have missed to having an assistant? If so, feel free to drop a line in the comments.

Xoxo,

Roxy

2018: A Look Ahead

2018: A Look Ahead

What’s in store for 2018:

Hello 2018, and goodbye 2017! 2017 flat out sucked! I ended up in the hospital in August with Legionnaires disease for a week. Took me two months to fully recover from that. Earlier in the year, I also lost my aunt Mary, and in October, we lost our good friend, Fr. Joe Granata.

Writing took the back burner while all of this went on. But, on the positive side, I started my own Virtual Assistant business which is where I focused my energy the last half of 2017.

Severing ties with my last publisher I think also affected my writing. I was deeply hurt seeing so many of my friends affected by some poor choices made on the publishers end. Pleass note, I am purposefully leaving out the name of the person and company. But, my muse is bouncing back and I am getting my short stories ready to be re-published.

I have two amazing editors and two amazing cover designers. In fact, I will schedule a cover reveal for To Hell and Back sometime over the next few weeks. Apparently I never really displayed it. I am hoping to re-release To Hell and Back in early April.

As you can see by the look of the site, I am in the process of giving it an overhaul. There is so much that I want to put on it. However, it is going to take some time for me to complete.

I hope to blog more often this year as well. It will help me keep with writing, even if I am not writing any books.

Well, that’s all the updates I have right now, but now you know why I haven’t been blogging the last year. Well, that will change! I have a lot of projects planned in my head, and will be happy to blog about them here!

But, until then, happy blogging and happy new year!

Xoxo,

Roxy

Why you need to join my Younique team

Up until recently, I didn’t use to wear Younique makeup. At least not as often as I do now. Presently, I wear it at least once or twice a week. There is something about having a nice, hot shower, wearing your hair down and throwing on some makeup to really uplift your spirits especially when you’re having a bad day. That is the power of good-quality makeup, and that is what I get when I wear Younique.

Moodstruck pallet 1

Moodstruck pallet 1

I had never heard of Younique until recently, when my good friend and team leader, Jeanne approached me about it. I am always happy to support my friends in their business endeavors, just as they support me. I’ll be honest, I was hesitant to purchase a product I knew nothing about other than it was hypoallergenic (I have sensitive eyes so this was a plus). I purchased Moodstruck Eyeshadow Pallet 1 (an array of soft and dark browns, a mix of solid colors and sparkles). I had asked Jeanne which she thought would be the right fit for me, as I don’t normally wear makeup, especially to work. She suggested pallet 1, so I purchased it. When it came, I was pleasantly surprised. It came in a timely fashion, and when I applied it the first time, I loved how it felt. I also ordered a makeup brush as I didn’t have one. It took some practice, and I ended up poking myself in the eye once or twice, but I finally got the hang of putting eyeshadow on. Not a bad feat for someone who is blind without their glasses on and who can’t wear contacts.

The Benefits of joining a Younique team

Now that I was satisfied with my purchase, I decided to take the plunge when Jeanne asked me to join her team. What did I have to lose? I’ve never been comfortable with sales, but in this day in age, you need to be in order to get anywhere in the Online Business World. I figured this could potentially help me with book sales in the future when Dear One releases. But, that’s not the only benefit of joining a Younique team. You have the support of your colleagues, who will be like your second family. I got lucky and landed with a very supportive group. We lift each other up and support each other.

Another benefit of joining Younique is, of course, GETTING PAID! Yes, you actually GET ROYALTIES! They have incentive programs and ways to move up in the team. I currently am a White Status Presenter who is just over 30% in the next tier. I am making more sales then I originally thought I would. In order to be a presenter, you need to purchase the starter kit which is $99, and worth it. In order to be a good presenter, you need to know about the products you are selling, and this means testing them out. The best part? Even if you purchase from yourself, you still make royalties on the sales.

Well, there you have it, folks! That is why you need to join Younique. Next time I will cover running a successful Younique party and running a Younique Facebook Group.

So, What is stopping you from joining my team? Do you have any questions about Younique?

New Publishing Adventures!

New Publishing Adventures!

After many years of searching for the right publisher and literary agent, I have decided to go solo. It will be another exciting adventure, and one that I think will serve me well. I have appreciated all that my publishers have taught me, but I want and need to be in charge of my own deadlines. My schedule becomes increasingly busier each year, and when publishers only give you two weeks to work on edits, it just does not work out for me.

Luckily, I have some incredibly talented friends who are graphic designers and editors. I have hired my dear friends Stacy J. Garrett and Jessica Williams to work with me on this adventure. Stacy will be designing my covers from here on out, and Jessica will be doing my editing.

Both ladies have teamed up with me to bring you my freelance blog, Quillity Author Services.

Being my own publisher, I get to call ALL the shots from release date to cover design, what editor I use and where to sell my books. I hope you all will join me on this new part of my publishing journey.

The first story of mine will be re-released sometime in the summer or fall of this year depending on Jessica and Stacy’s schedules. The story we are currently working on is titled Dear One and is my first LBGT piece. Once I get a blurb written, I will post it here on the site. I have found the perfect model for the main character, Dominic, the leading male in this story. Jessica is working on the first round edits. Once I get them, I’ll be going through the story. When I finish, she will go through it at least one more time to make sure we did not miss anything. I plan to organize blog tours for this, and hope bloggers will want to host me on their blogs.

This story is for 18+.

Cover Reveal: Prince of Darkness

Cover Reveal: Prince of Darkness

Hello, everyone! I am so excited to share with what I hope to be the final cover reveal for this book, Prince of Darkness (The World Among Us #1). The World Among Us is a four book saga that tells the love story of Selene and Damien. It was originally published by Otherworld Publications in 2010 and has since then been revised, re-written, and lengthened. This book is special to me because it is the first book that I ever wrote. I have put all of my heart and soul, and emotions into this baby.

I grew up with disabilities, some learning and some physical. I have some thought processing disabilities, so I don’t always understand people right away, and sometimes have trouble with critical thinking and problem solving. I am happy to say, that I have overcome a lot of the disabilities, but sometimes they still show in my everyday life. In terms of physical disabilities, I have Rheumatoid arthritis and congenital heart disease.

So, for me to complete this book was a very emotional experience for me. I am very excited to share this with you in February for its re-release.

After you take a look, please continue to read on, as there is a GIVEAWAY. Unfortunately, rafflecopter wanted $84 from me for extra goodies for you, so I have to do this slightly differently.

Please take a look below and see for yourself how amazing this book sounds:

Welcome

Welcome to my new site!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my new site! My name is Roxanne Daveney, and I am an author as well as a business woman. I run many different websites all of which you will find links to throughout this site. Of course, the primary topic of this site will be my publications and my various works in progress.

I write anything from fantasy to LBGTQ books and roleplaying. You. Might see me from time to time highlight some storylines that I have going on in my roleplaying.

You might see me post either a book or product review from time to time. This DOES NOT MEAN I AM ACCEPTING REVIEW REQUESTS. I just wanted to put that out there. I have a mile long TBR list that I want to get through first, so any books that I review will be from that. I am also an avid Pokemon and Sims player.

I LOVE comments and will be more than happy to return the favor if you leave one on my posts.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you will come back and say hello!
